State Level Science Seminar 2018

  • The State Council of Educational Research & Training, Alto-Porvorim in collaboration with Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai (A unit of National Council of Science Museums) (NCSM) Ministry of culture, Government of India had organized State Level Science Seminar on 21st August 2018 at State Council of Educational Research & Training, Alto-Porvorim, Goa for the students of Class VIIIth to Class Xth on the topic “Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0: Are we prepared?” . The objective of the Science Seminar is to inculcate the spirit of scientific enquiry and analytical thinking in the minds of the young students. Science Seminar was conducted at two levels Viz, Zonal Level & State Level. Zonal Level Seminar was held on13th August 2018  (North Educational Zone) ,and the judges were Dr.G.C.Pradhan Faculty SCERT, Mr. Sameer Patil Associate Prof. Electronics DM’s College & Research Centre  & K. Venkata Durgaprasad State co-ordinator, Goa Science Centre, Miramar, Panaji, Goa.
  • 14th August 2018 (Central Educational Zone) and the judges were Dr.G.C.Pradhan Faculty SCERT, Mr. Sameer Patil Associate Prof. Electronics DM’s College & Research Centre &  Mr Sunil Shetye HOD Mechanical Engineering Government Polytechnic ,Altinho, Panaji,Goa.
  • 16th August 2018 (South Educational Zone) and the judges were Dr.G.C.Pradhan Faculty SCERT, & Mr. Nithin Kumar Research Scholar,
  • NIT,GEC Complex,Farmagudi,Ponda,Goa. Six Students from each Educational Zone were selected to particiopate at State Level Seminar on 21st August 2018. Total 93 schools participated in the seminar.
  • On 13th August 2018 the seminar was inaugurated by Mr. K Venkata Durgaprasad, The State Co-ordinator, Goa Science Centre, Miramar, Panaji, Goa. in the presence of Dr. G. C. Pradhan Faculty, SCERT-Alto Porvorim,Mr Sameer Patil Associate Prof. Electronics DM’s College & Research Centre ,Shri Bhishi P. Parab,Co-ordinator for the State Level seminar and other members of SCERT, Porvorim,Goa.
  • Miss. Smita Sachinandan Karati of G.V. M’s M.I.B.K. High School, Khandepar-Ponda, Goa.was declared winner of the State Level Science Seminar and she will represent Goa State in the National Science Seminar to be held at Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bangaluru on 5th October 2018.
  • Master Saish A. Raikar of Bhatikar Model High School, Gogal, Margao, Goa won the 2nd Prize. Third Prize was shared between Shriv S. Prabhudessai of Holy Cross Institute, Quepem, Goa and Miss. Chinmayee Shambhu Kalangutkar of G.S. Amonkar Vidya Mandir, Mapusa, Bardez, Goa., The Consolation Prizes were awarded to Miss Vaishnavi Nilkant Halarnkar of St. Francis Xavier High School, Mapusa, and Master. Yuri Naidu of Sharda Mandir School, Miramar, Panaji,Goa.
  • During Valedictory function the prizes were distributed at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Gajanan Bhat, Director, Directorate of Education, Porvorim, Goa. He appealed the students, teachers and the public to be prepared for upcoming 4th Industrial Revolution .
  • Mr. Nagaraj Honnekeri, Director, SCERT, Porvorim Goa welcomed the gathering and also advised all the participants to be ever ready for the challenges in their way and also appealed to participate in all the activities conducted by SCERT such as Competitive Exams like National Talent Search Examination,National Means cum Merit Scholarship Examination,Science Talent Search Examination,Incentive Scholarship Scheme Examination, Western India Science Fair, Science Drama Festival,Jawaharlal Nehru Mathematics, Environment& Science Exhibition,etc. The other dignitaries present on the dais were Dr. G. C. Pradhan Faculty, SCERT-Alto Porvorim, Goa. Mr. Nithin Kumar, Research Scholar, NIT, Goa as judges for the Seminar and Mr. Bhishi Pandurang Parab, Programe coordinator, SCERT Porvorim.
  • Mr. Bhishi Parab, Programme coordinator compered the programme and Mr. Vasant Nagarsekar, Assistant Programme Coordinator, proposed vote of thanks.
